Why Kerala Media Which Celebrated Rohith’s Suicide, Silent Over SFI’s Betrayal
The General Secretary of University of Hyderabad Students’ Union, Rajkumar Sahu who has resigned from CPM’s student wing SFI is questioning the motive of the Joint Action Committee (JAC), which is leading the Rohith Vemula campaign. He has accused the JAC of using the platform to target a few people and called for a probe into its funding. Apart from accusing the SFI of nurturing feeling of hatred in Rohith, a Dalit PhD student who committed suicide on January 17, 2016.
About Rohit, he further added “He was disillusioned, and went on to join Ambedkar Student Association (ASA). It was very unfortunate that he believed in radical methods to achieve justice for the poor… “Daily rent of tent is around five thousand and three months have passed already. Lavish food was served for more than ten days to the students’ community free of cost. Large-scale events got organized. Certain individual members of the movement are having lavish parties daily. As a participant of the movement, I confirm that massive funds are flowing and I am keen to know the source,’’ said Sahu, who actively participated in the JAC protests earlier. He also accused SFI and JAC of misguiding the students with “imaginary” tales of discrimination. The JAC, which draws students from the university’s 14 student organizations operates in a national paradigm wherein crores of rupees is spent. Be it JNU, FTII, Hyderabad University or Jadavpur University, the youth of India is systematically indoctrinated by the communist-congress combine. As Raj Kumar Sahu puts it, they imbibe feelings of hatred within the society. Their anti-national credentials is too well known for extending support to Yakub Memon and Afzal Guru. The sway of Left-wing ideology in India is being supported by a group of academia and media. Not only the Indian Left enjoy congress-communist and foreign patronage, it also has a pervasive grip on academia. Further, it has a long history of being viciously intolerant towards contrary viewpoints.
Before Rohith joined the Ambedkar Students’ Association (ASA) at the University of Hyderabad, he was a firebrand leader of the Students’ Federation of India (SFI), affiliated to the CPI (M). His disillusionment with the communists began when he discovered that the boys and girls who had given up their faith in God could not bring themselves up to abandon their belief in the caste system. He quit SFI after he was discriminated for his caste by the so-called comrades who he hoped would deliver him and his people from this wretched social order. The treatment meted out to Rohith is in public knowledge and even Dheeraj Paleri, the leader of SFI’s Hyderabad University Wing, admits that he was ill-treated by a few members of the cadre because of which he had to leave the organization.
When Sitaram Yechury visited the University, for a lecture and demanded reservation in the private sector for lower-caste people, Rohith responded with a viral Facebook post in which he asked why the CPI (M) hasn’t had a single Dalit politburo member in 51 years. According to an article in the Mainstream Weekly, published in 2010, the Communist Party of India (Marxist)-led Left Front coalition that governed West Bengal from 1977-2009 committed over 55,000 political murders. One of the problems, according to Dalit Marxists like late Rohith Vemula, is that an overwhelming majority of the Indian Left’s leadership comprises the upper caste that has grown up in privileged social conditions and hence they have no idea or experience of caste oppression. This upper-caste domination of the Left has severely undermined the Indian Left politics as a whole.
The veil of hypocrisy has thus lifted now from those who have in recent times projected themselves as the champions of “tolerance”, “debate” and “liberalism”. These “opportunist” forces that fund the JAC need to be contained at the earliest.
Rohith was a student who took active part in student activities and wanted to be a politician to serve the nation. This in itself is proof that he would have had a lot of friends and followers surrounding him at all times. Given this background, it is quite intriguing that when he was suffering with serious mental depression why was he not taken for medical treatment by his so called friend and followers. Another question which comes to my mind is why did his friends and teachers failed to realize that he needed medical assistance to overcome from depression? But, when Rohit is now not with us, his suicide is being politicized with vested interests by the disgruntled group instead of showing sympathy to the surviving members of his family and making some efforts that such incidents never occur in any academic institution in the country in future. The act of politicizing of the death is condemnable and should stop right away.
I demand a probe to be carried out at the earliest in to source of the funds.
Even the extremist Left, the CPI (Maoist) that consists of a large number of loyal Dalit cadre in the lower ranks, has never allowed a Dalit to hold the leadership of the party. It constitutes a dominant upper-caste central committee which is living under a myth of socialism in complete disregard of the innumerable atrocities faced by Dalits.
The Bharatiya Janata Party is determined to expose the anti-national brigade operating in our educational institutions and bring them to justice. The country demands a high level probe on their activities and a white paper on their motivations and source of funding.
