Growing menace of Financial Terrorism

via HK published on July 13, 2007

KANHANGAD: Police arrested Usman, 68, of Hosdurg Kadapuram while attempting to pay the insurance premium with fake currencies.

Fake currency, amounting to Rs 7,000, was seized from him, following a complaint by the branch manager of the LIC.

Usman presented seven notes of Rs.500 denomination at the LIC cash counter which was found to be fake.

These are not isolated cases happening once in a blue moon, But a daily affair happening all over Kerala. The links of Kasargode based Jihadi groups are crystal clear in most of the cases.

Eventhough seizure of Fake currency has now reduced to routine news to a Keralite. The callous attitude of law and order machinery results in the failure to counter this menace of Financial Terrorism by Jihadi elements.

Hundreds of Jihadi’s were arrested in past few years with fake currencies and Hawala money, But no proper investigations have been done to curb this menace and arresting the top guns involved in this.

Once the Public and Media forgets about a case the culprits are send scot-free or in bail to continue the same.
