Secular Lynchings

Planned attack on Hindus by Muslim goons at Nadia District of West Bengal.

When a paltry section of ‘intellectuals’ have chosen to raise a hue and cry over Dadri lynching incident, it remains absolutely shocking why they have conveniently chosen to neglect and remain selectively blind to other incidents of communal atrocities. Take the instance of the Juranpur violence in West Bengal on 3 May 2015, when a mob of Jihadists decided to unleash violence on a peaceful section of Hindu religious procession, mercilessly killing three men of a single family, allegedly with the blessings of TMC MLA Mohammed Nasiruddin Ahmed. The incident not only went conveniently uncovered by national media, but was also selectively ignored by the same revolting crop of ‘intellectuals’ who picked on the Dadri lynching to further their agenda of hatred against the NDA government. None of the prime accused has been arrested so far, with the family being denied justice or support from the state government as per Schedule Caste Schedule Tribe ( prevention against atrocity)  Act 1989.

According to the press note issued by Aparna Hazra, widow of  the victim Maru Hazra, “the violence that ensued was one-sided, with terror being unleashed on a peaceful procession of helpless Hindus. Three persons of a family were killed and several, including women were injured.” There were specific incidents of stabbing as well. As many as 35 homes of Hindu locals were burnt down, with livestock such as cows, calves, goats, buffaloes, ducks and hens being slaughtered. A large number of livestock animals were stolen as well, by the very same Jihadists. Not a single arrest has been made so far.

Local sources have stated that Mohammed Nasiruddhin, an elected MLA of TMC was allegedly “sitting in Kaliganj PS for the entire length of time when the incident took place.”
He is alleged to have influenced police from taking any action against the culprits.

“His action proves his malafied intention and also proves that the attacking on Hindus by the Muslims was pre planned to break out a communal riot,” said sources on conditions of anonymity.

On 3 May 2015, a Sunday, a group of Hindu farmers of the schedule caste and schedule tribe, hailing from Juranpur panchayat of Nauda village in West Bengal were on their way to Jamalpur Babasthan (situated at Burdwan district), to a temple of Lord Shiva. They had formed a religious procession with drums, bugles, flutes and carried flowers, fruits and other materials for a ritual for worshipping at the sacred spot. However, while passing by an interim spot known popularly as ‘flood centre’, the peaceful procession of devotees were attacked brutally by Jihadists, for no provocation or reason whatsoever.

According to sources, “The Muslim goons pelted country bombs. However, the pilgrim procession managed to escape from there alive. On the next day, while returning from the pilgrim centre back to Juranpur, a host of local Muslims attacked the group, as they passed by a mosque. They were joined by another larger group consisting of citizens who were not part of the local crowd, but obviously imported from another region with the sole aim of unleashing terror. There was continuous hurling of country bombs for 3 hours. Local Hindus rushed to the spot to offer help, but were rendered helpless.”

Locals also stated that “the Jihadists, before burning the houses had robbed several households, made a loot of cash, jewellery, and other valuable goods from their houses”.

It is also stated that a person among the victim Hindu community made a telephone call to the police, but their pleas fell on deaf ears. “The police chose to arrive at around 5pm when the entire incidence was over and took possession of all the dead bodies lying dead on the road and sent them to Krishnanagar. The Katwa Govt hospital refused to admit the injured persons and misbehaved with them. Two persons had been taken to private hospital for treatment. Some of the injured persons were shifted to Burdwan state hospital. Later on Aparna Hazra, Sanathan Sarkar and few others had been shifted to Kolkata,” said sources.
