An appeal from Sree Hari Vidya Niketan, Cherupoika, Kollam

published on August 24, 2011

Way back in September 2009, HK received a request from Sree Hari Vidyaniketan in Kollam district to give a write up about them in Haindava Keralam and solicit support from its readers. We did send out a message in September 2009 itself.

The response was positive and they received financial assistance from few people. During the past two years they were able to increase the levels from Standard V to VII.  With the support of local Hindu population and support from outside, they now have classes from Play School to Standard VII. More and more parents from Hindu families are now coming forward to have their wards admitted in this school which functions under the auspices of Vidyabharathi.

The major problem faced by them is lack of space. They have only 35 cents in possession and wish to add about 70 Cents more to have a proper building and requisite facilities to raise this school to plus two levels. Cherupoika is predominantly a village of ordinary farmers and the majority is daily wagers who are very prone to conversion unless we care to provide them such facilities at a place where the Christian and Madrassa Schools are competing to woo them. This is the only Hindu educational institution in this area which has a number of CBSE and similar schools run by minority communities.  Surely, this school deserves all possible help .
