Al Ummah Behind Kollam Collectorate Blast

KOLLAM: The central investigating agencies have found that banned Jihadi organisation Al Ummah, is behind the blast witnessed in Kollam collectorate.One person was injured in the blast that occurred in the collectorate on June 15.

Al Ummah was banned following 1998 Coimbatore blast which targeted BJP leader L K Advani.  A total of 58 people were killed and over 200 injured in the 12 bomb attacks in 11 places.

Abdul Nasser Madni who is now facing charges on Bangalore blast had closed links with Al Ummah. Kollam, where the blast happened is the home town of Madni.

A similar blast had occurred at Chittoor in Andhra. The battery with the same series fixed to the bomb here was used in Kollam also. In a detailed investigation similarities were noticed.
