Vishal Murder: Four Years On, Jihadi Murderer’s Still on Loose

By HK published on July 18, 2016

Mavelikkara: Four years have passed by, after ABVP nagar samiti president of Chenganoor, Moolakkuzhakotta Sreesailam Vishal Kumar was brutally murdered in broad daylight,  but Crime Branch is yet to hand over the charge-sheet  of the case. Vishal was a student of Chenganoor Christian College, where he was stabbed to death by Jihadi terrorists of NDF, while organizing a welcome for college freshers. He was 19 then.

A total of 16 persons were arrested for being directly involved in the case, while five persons were arrested for being party to conspiracy.

Owing to certain glaring flaws in submitting the charge sheet, those accused found it easy to acquire bail. According to Crime Branch officials last year, the charge sheet had been submitted to the ADGP for further examination and would be presented before the Court after receiving the required perission. However nothing has moved and officials continue to rant the same story this year too. The investigation was headed by Chenganoor  CI Jose and was later handed over to CB. However, the delay in filing charge sheet has been attributed to the protection being offered to those accused by persons having lofty political connections.

Vishal was a victim of brutal campus politics indulged in by jihadists of the outlawed Popular Front,  on 16 July 2012. Without any reason for provocation, the jihadists unleashed terror on the college campus and made a witch hunt for ABVP activists. It is also a known fact that the jihadists arrived in a gang led by Nasim, a student of the same college. Among those arrested, the key accused are Nasim, Anzar Faisal, Shafeeq, Asif Mohammed, Shameer Rauthar, Afzal Althaz and Habeeb.

Vishal was admitted to hospital, but succumbed to his injuries.
