Sree Sanakara, the ‘Imparter of Vedantic Principles to the World’: Swami Chidananda Puri

published on April 24, 2012

Kalady: The mighty philosopher, who imparted the principles of Vedanta, in all its logic to the world outside, was Sree Sankara, said Swami Chidanandapuri, head seer of Advaithashrama, Kolathur, Kozhikode. He also observed that in the present times, a person was honoured, not on account of the expanse of his knowledge, but by the amount of popularity he enjoyed. The address by him was made in connection with a gathering headed by the Committee for the Development of AdiSankara’s Birthplace.

“Man cannot be bound by religious dogmas alone. This is exactly the reason why Europe is witnessing the portrayal of churches as spots of tourist interest. This has been happening because of the lack of reasoning these religions promote,” said Swami Chidanandapuri. Referring to AdiSankara as ‘Jagadguru’, he said. “Genuine collective efforts should be invested to create a genuine societal atmosphere at the birthplace of this world philosopher. Let us join together to create a good beginning, which will open up other venues to take us forward in this direction.”

Prof. KSR Panicker presided over the meeting. State Dharma Jagaran Convenor VK Viswanath, KP Sankaran were among those who addressed the audience.
