Singing an old tune

With emerging trends of a possible victory for the NDA and the UPA is complete disarray, the BJP has brought up again and old agends to its credit. The Ram temple at Ayodhya.

Shri.L.K.Advani on Friday reiterated his party’s resolve to build the Ram temple as planned in Ayodhya. Speaking at an election rally in Kolkata, he promised a he will try his best to get the confidence of his coalition to build the temple if they came to power.

In this election which is simply a pro-BJP and anti-BJP fight, the party knows it needs the hindutva agenda for the last and final push to make the numbers. Sadly the hindutva brigade as seen through this. They realize that these are simply empty promises that cannot be met unless a BJP government comes to power, rather than an NDA one. Then why has the party brought up the issue again? The people of India have already seen through this gimmick again and again everytime there is an election. The Ram temple seems to come up only for the manifesto purpose. And though there are strong words from Advaniji, many of the people who come on the media and elesewhere seems to be silent on the issue.

The BJP must realise that it is time to either shed its moderate image and go forth with a tough pro-hindutva stand, even if it means having to sit in the opposition as simply another party. Or they need to stick to their moderate image and try to come to power and lay the foundation for a smooth governance that could ensure a full five year term and a possible stronger voter base.

A mix and match experiment can prove quite deadly for the party at this time.
