The Sar Sangh Chalak of the RSS, Mr K S Sudarshan, has on Tuesday handed over the keys of 22 houses to the victims of the T’sunami at Tharayil Kadavu in Arattupuzha area in Kerala’s Alapuzha district.

Seva Bharati, which has proved itself as an NGO really concerned in the welfare of the poor and needy in Kerala, would be completing the construction of the remaining 28 houses for the victims soon, officials told HK. The keys were handed over at a function at Tharayil kadavu, a hamlet of poor Hindus which was totally washed away by the killer T’sunami waves in Dec last year.

The Seva Bharathi officials told HK that the houses have been constructed as per the specifications given by the government. But the state government which had collected crores of rupees in the name of T’sunami relief had not so far made any effort to rehabilitate these poor people who had lost their homes, they alleged.

Those participated at the function included Swami Tapasyamritha Chaithanya of the Matha Amritanandamayi Mission, Kayamkulam Sree Ramakrishna Madom President, Swami Kaivalyanandaji Maharaj and Mr P E B Menon, Pranth Sangh Chalak, Kerala.

Mr K M Mani, State Revenue Minister and the District Collector, Alapuzha who were to attend the function did not attend probably for fear of the people’s disenchantment with the government’s impervious attitude towards the T’sunami victims.
