A newly constructed Ghat in Haridwar was to be named after the second Sarsanghachalak of RSS Shri Madhav Sadashivrao Golwalkar, whose birth centenary is being celebrated all over the country this year. It was to be inaugurated by RSS Sarsanghachalak Shri K.S. Sudarshan during his recent visit to Haridwar. But the police allegedly rooted the plaque up. The situation got extremely tense when this news spread. All the nationalist organisations, including VHP, RSS, Hindu Jagaran Manch, BJP and the saints reached the Ghat. Having seen the wall broken and the plaque disappeared, the workers got furious. They found the plaque in the police jeep. They took it from the police and put it again at the proposed site. A local Congress leader had allegedly asked the police to root up the plaque.

Seeing the situation becoming tense more police force was called. In the presence of the police, Swami Hansdas, president of Akhil Bharatiya Sant Samiti, and leaders of Hindu organisations declared that the Ghat has symbolically been named after Shri Guruji. But after15 days it will be formally inaugurated. Swami Hansdas, said the Hindu society is not coward and it will not tolerate such atrocities of the police and will stand steady against the anti-Hindu tendency of the administration. He said the Ghat has been named after Shri Guruji who was pure, selfless and fearless. “Shri Guruji lived solely for others. His words and actions safeguarded the unique values, which are much needed for the very existence of the systematic development of a nation. Such great services were rendered by him to Bharat and its people. So we are proud to name the Ghat after him. Commenting on the issue, Shri K.S. Sudarshan said Shri Guruji was above such things like honour. It does not matter much whether the Ghat is named after Guruji or not. Shri Shivprakash, Uttaranchal Prant Pracharak said removing of the plaque was illegal and it will be formally inaugurated at the very place within a few days
