Prathiba, Love Jihad victim opted death over veil

· Date:January 29, 2010

Thrissur: Since the second verdict of Kerala High Court toppling it’s own judgement about the presence of Love Jihad , Medias which took a bold stand to expose this temporarily stopped campaigning against it. The investigations directed by court against thousands of Love Jihad incidents also are now in cold storage.

The Suicide of Parthiba (23) (Converted to Diya Firos few days before suicide) following the torture of her Husband and his family due to her opposition to get converted to Islam pose a serious question to our society. How long can we ignore this evil and leave our girls for the mercy of Jihadis?

Prathiba daughter of Prabhakaran fell in the trap of Love Jihad laid by Jihadi Romeo Firos son of Haneefa. Prathiba eloped with Firos , the Jihadi Romeo in February 2005. The couple were reported in court following the complaint filed by Prathiba’s family. Infront of court Firoz told that he genuinely loves her and will not force her to convert. Since then she was not allowed to contact her family.

After couple of years Firoz and his family started to pressurize her to get converted to Islam and also asked her to contact her family to demand dowry from her home. She was taken to Islamic conversion centre in Ponnani , but later bought back following stiff opposition from her. Later she was converted to Islam by bringing a Moulavi to home. She was forced to wear veil and to perform Islamic prayer. Finally she decided to end her life as for her living the life of as a Muslim woman was same as living the life of a corpse.

She had send her diary to her family which has been now handed over to Police. But as usual Police is showing their negligent attitude. Now Firoz and his family is trying to take bail prior to any arrest.

It is a case of abating suicide. State of Kerala Vs. the persons named in the diary
Free societies must be ruled by law. Rule of law is nothing but the rule based on the conscience of the society. Social conscience is based upon the society’s moral maturity, how it administers public policy and its system of justice. In that context, social leaders and administers of justice cannot evade the question how social, political, economic and judicial decisions affect the most vulnerable members of the society. If they disregard the rights of vulnerable section of the society and refuse to recognize the fact that they have priority in respect of every public policy decisions it is an indication of the inadequacy of social evolution. Young women are most vulnerable in every society, especially in the Indian society. Marriage is an important turning point in their lives. Social and economic conditions make their life difficult in various ways. They have special needs as minor children, adolescents, young women, married women, mothers and old aged persons because of the mere fact that they are at a biological disadvantage. Socio economic opportunities and legal rights available to men are not accorded to them in any society. They have accepted it and put up with it through out history. However, in no society their rights are covered by the rule of law. Women’s rights are always inferior to those of men. This is an appalling social paradox.
This is now a criminal case of abatement to suicide. Prathibha’s diary is evidence against all named persons. Get it back, take a copy, analyze, and publish for public information or make an Internet movie. Police must file a case against named persons. Police cannot keep it or tamper with it. If political leaders are motivated by the Muslim vote bank they must be booted out. If judges are afraid of political vindication or of violence against their person and family, Hindu community must unite to meet that challenge. Let us be honest. Are we afraid of their home made explosives?

Are the rights of men superior to the rights of women?
It is a matter of great sorrow for anyone who reads the stories of young women who are forced to end their life in such tragic circumstances. One who analyzes the complexity of this toxic socio legal paradox can not, but, be amazed how incompetently social, political and judicial decision makers are handling this issue. On the one hand, young women are trapped into love and enticed into marrying men who follow diametrically opposed value systems and social disciplines and forced to follow appalling customs and prejudices which severally curtail their freedom of conscience, individual dignity, philosophy, morality, social interaction and grooming habits with no guarantee of perpetual love. On the other hand young men who love and accept women who want to escape torturing perversions practiced in the name of religion and marry them, only to be forced to convert into a violent group which follow toxic social values or violently murdered by the bride’s kin and the community. While such men who are willing to give up everything for their love get killed in even in police custody, wicked and lusty men who masquerade as professional Romeos are pampered by the community and allowed to go free by the legal system. The society or the legal system does not rescue even minor children from this predatory behavior.

How could the government be confused and inactive about this violation or women’s right? Are the rights of men superior to the rights of women? Are rights of Muslims superior to the rights of Hindus? Are Indian laws prejudiced against Hindus? Is there an agreement of life long slavery in built in a marriage with a Muslim? Is it legal to compel women to abandon their freedom of liberty and integrity, of conscience, of religion, of worship, of expression, of dressing, of self grooming, etc are violated in the name of meaningless and self contradicting medieval religious sermons highly prejudicial to women? If it is, it must be academic content and public knowledge 5

In the USA this is illegal.
Why does your government allow it? She should be free to choose her own faith in India. 5

    blame education
These girls, despite their education, seems to lack thinking faculty. Our education system is only to pass exams.Buy some question papers of previous years, prepare, appear for exams and pass out.The syllabus itself is of stone age.For this reason, the X’tian churches counsel adolescent boys and girls about marriage and the life thereafter.Islam nails them to moving prisons.Hindus are sitting ducks for these romeos. We brag so much about the capabilities of our new generation. Of what avail is their knowledge if they cannot judge the dangers lurking around them. Most parents of the previous generation are comparitevely idiots(I am sorry) who are trained only to carry sentiments about Nehru and Gandhi.I think all temple priests must warn girls about the social malise that is going on to entrap them. 5

Secular media is silent on the issue
Secular media is as usual silent on the issue. The so called liberal organisations like DYFI and its liberal leaders also remain silent. Haindava Keralam should actually come out with a PDF file which reports all these evidences. If possible give links to media also.

Some news paper or other might have reported the suicide, but they might not have mentioned the reasons. Some news paper would also have reported the court case. An intelligent reader who sees both the news can put two and two together. 5

    Pratibha, Love Jihad…..
Thousands of such cases are happening every day all over India. Mostly, the parents try to hide them and the people tend to forget them after some time. Actually, there should be a website to give full details of such cases and the periodical statistics should be published so that sleeping Hindus will get an idea of the magnitude of the problem. 5

I am waiting for follow up on this issue.
I am waiting to see what the government and the media is doing about it. I read that the High Court in Calcutta has reversed the decision to grant bail to the hudlum who kidnapped a minor girl and tried to marry her after converting her. Let us see if someone takes some action on this issue. 5

    Islam and tolerance
This is shocking. Muslims do not believe in freedom of relgion. Even movie actors like Shahrukh and Aamir Khan marry Hindu women and then raise their kids as Muslims.

Hindu women need to be more aggressive to preserve their family’s name and faith. They should be more aggressive in pursuing their own boyfriend/husband rather than wait for a man to make the move. If they do that, then they have no choice. And Muslims will get them and kill their religion. 5

Is freedom of speech dead in India, too? Islam condones & promotes violence & the use of force against the non-believer (non-Muslim). Hindus should drive ISLAM out of India before it tries to devour her again. 5

    Islam condems coercion
Finally she decided to end her life as for her living the life of as a Muslim woman was same as living the life of a corpse.

If she committed suicide due to the coercion to convert to Islam then Islam condemns it.She had an Islamic right to divorce. Had his husband been a practising Muslim he wouldn’t have married her.

And if he had married her against Islam why was he forcing her to convert. Here it is the Muslim who is wrong not Islam. He was neither sincere with her nor Islam.

Islam condemns his marriage as well as his coercion.

    Just an incident for you.
I dont know about love jihad and its activities in kerala, but i would like to mention an incident that happened in a professional college in kerala.
The girl(student) belongs to a traditional Hindu family. She met a friend while chatting over internet.he first introduced himselves as hindu……and soon another love spurting here. She came to know that the guy was a muslim later. But she couldnt ignore him now(ofcourse she was in love).the guy working in middle east started sending many expensive gifts to her…their bond was then strengthened when he came to see her at her college.they went out to take a picture(you will later find out why this was for). The affair didn’t go well later.after her college her parents made arrangements for her marriage. Now she told her parents about her affair with this boy and she still wished to marry him.Hers was an orthodox family and her parents certainly resented to her request. The guy came to know about this and he soon traced her house.he came with the photograph taken by them and showed it to her father and told him what no “person would like to hear about his daughter or wife” (which was certainly a lie which in no way can be proved by the girl).the father had a stroke on hearing this and was hospitalised soon.the girl never dreamt of disaster as she had only heared of “casual college romances”.She wondered how a person can become this mean and heartless, she had only loved him till that moment.she became mentally depressed. But the girl was truly lucky as the person with whom her marriage was fixed agreed to marry her on seeing the condition of her father.Indeed she is lucky, but how many guys would be willing to marry such a girl????? I don’t know.
When i went through the comments i just recalled this incident thats it.Some affairs may be just a “black hole” with the most beautiful part only in the begining.Beware!!! 5
