Malayalam version of ‘Great minds on INDIA’, authored by Northeast-based (Shillong) writer, Salil Gewali has been released last Friday by the Governor of Maharashtra Shri K Sankaranarayanan in Raj Bhawan, Mumbai. The function was attended by renowned writer and Sahitya Academy awardee Ms Mansi Vijayan, other scholars and writers. Malayalam edition has been translated by an eminent Malayalam writer Dr M Pushpangadan of Mumbai while a former NASA scientist  Dr. AV Murali, Houston, USA,  being the  consultant editor.

In another function in Mumbai Ms Priya Dutt, a Member of Parliament and daughter of a legendary film star Sunil Dutt, has also honored Mr Salil Gewali for his book. ‘This is doubtlessly a landmark contribution to the country’, remarked Ms Dutt.

This landmark compilation of the quotes of world-famous luminaries has long been captivating the attention of the noted scholars from across the world. John Palmer of Las Vegas, Nevada, says — ‘If you are suspicious about the amazing heritage and culture of INDIA, a compilation of quotes  “Great minds on INDIA” would be an eye-opener’. Palmer is a big fan of the Indian classical wisdom and spiritualism.

A Scottish scholar Ms Margaret Drummond, claims — ‘True intellectual minds who are free from prejudices always appreciate Indian wisdom. Ancient wisdom of India is secular and universal. A big proof is Salil’s book with famous scholars’ comments who are mostly scientists and philosophers.’

Gewali started casually collecting such quotes from his boyhood time. But making a book occurred to him while reading the world famous books – ‘The Tao of Physics’ and ‘Uncommon Wisdom’ by Frijtof Capra for the second time in 1995.

During his assiduous research Gewali realized that scientists like Schrodinger, Neils Bohr, Julius Oppenheimer, David Bohm, Heisenberg, David Josephson and so on had sufficiently got the ideas related to Quantum Physics from the ancient literature of INDIA. Voltaire, Johann Goethe, Hegel, Emerson, Henry Thoreau were other front-ranking philosophers of the modern time who were bewitched by the fathomless depth of the ancient literature on INDIA. Kannada version of the book is now being translated by a Nuclear scientist of Bhabha Atomic Research Centre Dr. Muliya Raghavyya while the Marathi is being edited by the former Additional Chief Secretary of Maharashtra Government Smt Leena Mehendale.
