Jihadi Hartal Challenging Judiciary in Kerala

By HK published on May 30, 2017

Kochi: A hartal has been called for in Tuesday in Ernakulam district by Jihadi organisations in the name of Muslim Ekopana Samiti, to protest against the High Court verdict declaring the marriage of Akhila, as annulled.
The hartal breaches the Supreme Court ruling that “The fundamental purpose is that there cannot be any agitation when it relates to an order passed by the court. It (a court order) is to be complied with and, in any case, if there is difficulty, the concerned parties can approach the court.”

The Kerala High Court had directed Akhila to return to her parents, after having annulled her marriage, following forcible conversion to Islam. This enraged members of Muslim Ekopana Samiti, resulting in a march towards the High Court, which was halted by police.
According to reports, the High Court had rescued Akhila from efforts made by Jihadis to send her to Syria, in order to enroll her in ISIS. “They produced fake documents as marriage certificate. This was however dismissed by Court,” said reports.

Following this, police took her to her parents’ residence in Vaikom, which led to intimidations from jihadi groups like Popular Front of India. The Court has also sought detailed report on Satyasarini in Mancheri, notorious for conversion activities, after raising sharp criticism on its activities and those of Popular Front activist AS Sainaba.

In yesterday’s protest in Ernakulam, Jihadi’s threatened Judges and raised obscene slogans against them. Targeting judges personally  & questioning the verdict by violent protests are clear signposts to what is in store for Keralites in years to come.
