Janmashtami Puraskaram to Swami Chidanandapuri, Guiding Light of Hindu Soceity in Kerala

This years’ Janmashtami Puraskaram instituted by Balasamskarakendram, Aluva is proposed to be conferred on Swami Chidanandapuri, the President of Kolathoor Adwaithasram. Swamiji,  who is in the pursuit of propagating the message of Bhagavat Geetha in Kerala and also outside the state for the last 3 decades, is the beacon light for the spiritual and cultural resurgence throughout Kerala.

The Award Committee consisting of Padmasree P.Parameswaran, Dr. Priyadarsan Lal, Dr. Gopi Puthucode , Sree Kummanam Rajashekharan, has in its observation opined in unequivocal terms that Swami Chidanandapuri’s contribution  is unigue and glaring among those who took the message of Sreekrishna to human hearts. Conferring  this award to Swamiji  this time,  has glorified the tradition of Balasamskarakendram in the recognition of great souls like Sugathakumari, Akkitham, Malliyoor, Vishnu Narayan Namboothiri, Swami Parameswarananda, Usuf  Ali  Kecheri and S. Rameshan Nair in the previous years.

The Award, Citation and the Memento will be presented in the most auspicious function scheduled to be held on 19th August 2010 at Vadakara Town Hall.

 

Swamiji took birth in Kollam in Kozhikode, graced by Sanyasadeeksha from Swami Vimalanandaji of Kailas Ashram. Therafter he took pilgrimage throughout Bharath and later opted to work in Kerala to fulfill his mission of life. He established Adwaithashram in Kolathoor, Kozhikode which became the centre of spiritual and Dharmic activities in Malabar area. He became the managing trustee of Sree Shankara Charitable Trust and Sanathana Dharma Seva Trust. Sree Shankara orphanage for children and Brahma Vidya Peetom are also functioning under this ashram. Spiritual retreats and Sadhana shibirs for youths and students every month are also part of its activities.

Swamiji also adorn the Presidentship of Sanathana Dharma Parishat .He is  visiting professor of the chair for Sanathana dharma Peedom under Calicut University. Swamiji gives leadership to the Hindu upsurge against the confiscation of Hindu temples and Math by Devaswom boards. It was in his leadership the Hindu sanyasins and leaders submitted memorandum to the Government against the new Devaswom Bill.

32 literary works including annotation to Sree Shankarabhashyam to Bhagavat Geetha stand to the credit of Swamiji’s intellectual and philosophical mastery.
