Inadequate Security, Despite IS Threat to Sabarimala

Even as the entire world has come to know of the devious designs of ISIS of sabotaging the long spaning Sabarimala pilgrimage, the Communist government of Kerala under Pinarayi Vijayan continues to don cold shoulders regarding the matter. High alert has been issued in Kerala, following threat from an Islamic State to Sabarimala temple, which exhorted Jihadi groups in Kerala to poison the temple’s water source. The state government has however thrown caution to the winds by deploying less than 300 police personnel to be in charge of security arrangements, at a time when at least 550 policemen are needed. NCC cadets who had come to the aid of police personnel have also returned, state reports.

Sources have stated that parking grounds, other temples in the vicinity, resting spaces, bathing ghats, bus terminals, water sources, schools and colleges in the area etc, which are to be subject to frequent stringent security checks have been neglected owing to lack of adequate police force.

The Railway Police has issued an alert, urging strict vigil and monitoring of the situation. “The threat perception is high and it states that the ISIS members could either poison the water or food at the pilgrimage site. An attack on the pilgrims also forms part of the threat perception. It may be recalled an audio clip was recently released by the boss of the ISIS Kerala module,” state sources.

A 10 minute audio clip by ISIS Kasargode module head Rashid Abdullah exhorts cadres to carry out attacks by poisoning food at Thrissur Pooram and Kumbh Mela. Apart from exhorting for attacks, Muslims have been called “to migrate from Darul Kufr to Darul Islam”, which, if not possible can be compensated by “offering financial aid to Daulatul Islam and the Islamic State”.

“First, go and poison food, then use trucks to drive them over. Do it the way ISIS fighters across the world are doing,” says the jihadist.
