Brutal Murder of BJP activists – Two CPM Jihadis under arrest

Mahe: Police arrested two CPM Jihadis Museed and Shameel in connection with yesterday’s brutal murder of BJP activists.CPM thugs gheraoed Police station demanding the release of CPM Jihadis. These CPM Jihadis were arrested by Police from CPM’s Chokli local office.  

The CPM terrorists attacked Vijith (29), son of Madonkandi Bhaskaran, and Sinoj (29), son of Kurunthorath Karunakaran, at about 11.00 am Friday when they were returning to their home village, East Palloor. Vijith is ward committee president of BJP in Mahe and Shinoj Ward Secretary. Both were sole bread winners of their family.

Three men in masks had attacked the two young BJP workers while they were going to East Palloor on their motor bike. After falling off the bikes in the bombing, they tried to escape by taking shelter in a furniture shop nearby, it is said. But the gang followed them there and hacked them to death. While one died on the spot, the other succumbed to the injuries on the way to the hospital.

After post-mortem from Kozhikode Medical college body of Vijith and Sinoj will be taken to their home and will be cremated there. The BJP called for a dawn-to-dusk hartal in Kannur district and adjacent Mahe on Saturday to protest against the incident.

State BJP president V Muraleedharan said the killings were part of the CPI(M)’s efforts to divert public attention from the rampant internal problems in that party. “There is no other reason for such violence in New Mahe where no tension prevailed,” he said.

State Yuva Morcha president K Surendran said that the incident that took place very near to the native village of Home Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan of the CPI(M) raised serious concerns. “The CPI(M) is playing with fire,” he said in Kasaragod. “What the Marxists intend to do with these murders is to try to spread violence in Kannur just when it is remaining relatively peaceful ”
