Hindu Masjids: Symbolises the longstanding conflict between Hindus and Muslims, and tries to offer a solution. From Emperor Akbar to Rajiv Gandhi, many have tried to build bridges of friendship between the two communities but all of them, including Mahatma Gandhi, have failed. As the last five decades have proved, the partition of 1947 did not solve the problem.

Is it to escape facing the truth about the past? Or is it to placate Muslim sentiments? Is it to avoid a controversy which might adversely affect one or more electoral verdicts? But how can all the political parties have a vested interest in the suppression of the same facts? Surely, if some party might lose out by the facts coming to light, another should gain as a result. Ruling parties at the centre as well as in the state change from time to time. Yet, no party has shown any real inclination in letting the people of India know facts of their collective past? Is the reason then, a countrywide fear of a community's wrath? If it be so, how can there be friendship between one community being the cause and the other the casualty of fear?

Hindu Masjids Several scholars have, over the years, listed hundreds of temples and described their desecration but none before the author has drawn a clear distinction between a mandir converted into a masjid in contrast to a mosque built with the rubble of a demolished temple. Even Cunningham, who toured North India extensively in the course of 1838-1855 and published his surveys in 23 voluminous reports, did not make the distinction.

Prafull Goradia has visited every masjid or dargah that has been discussed. Not alone, but accompanied by a research scholar as well as an excellent photographer. He now appeals to Muslims to abandon and not use these ill-gotten or looted edifices for praying to their one and only god, Allah.

Sachin Kondke 20/10/2009 23:45:06	Hindu Masjids A very good investigation by Goradia. I do not agree that old mandirs were converted to masjids by the neo converts. Conversions were forcibly done. There are written accounts by Mughal chroniclers concrning destruction of temples, conversions, etc. Similar accoutns exist in cases of other Islamic invaders not only in Indian sources but also of other ones from which we can safely conclude that temples were destructed for building new mosques and even churches. I wud request saji to visit Taj Mahal an dother masjids referred to in Goradia's work and counter the arguments with facts and not merely play with his/her uninvestigative intellect. Possibly converts like Saji wud not like to do that. Because the land of jesus is not here. he/she has attachment of the chain elsewhere 5
saji 22/08/2009 03:26:46	Nothing unusual In this news, I see nothing unusual. If we dig old monuments in the universe we can get similar structures. It is true that idol worship existed among all tribes in the world. When the idea of worshipping only one GOD was put forward by semitic religions like Islam, its followers ignored such faith and converted themselves the temples to masjids or similar worshipping houses. It is absurd to claim that all the shown images were onetime temples based on the architectural design or the statues being depicted on the walls. 5

KRVN 21/06/2009 17:48:00	Wonderful temple architecture I wonder how Taj Mahal was not included in this list. As explained in detail in the website by Stephen Knapp, Taj Mahal has a lot to hide within its structure. And I have never been able to understand why Taj Mahal is called one of the seven wonders of this world. Many ancient Hindu temples are absolutely stunning and rightly deserving to be called wonders of the world. How did Taj Mahal become one of the wonders of the world? Was it another ploy to belittle Hinduism? 5
