Shabana says Muslims have not got their due

Shabana Azmi is a name we always find at the wrong places at all the wrong times.

This time around she has said that India has been unfair to the Muslim community. She says only token gestures of support have been given by the Indian and polity and that the real issues have been ignored. The Muslim community according to her has been sidelined by the majority community.

If that was the case she wouldn’t be where she was today addressing a TV show. The Muslim community in India is as safe as they are anywhere in the world. Maybe even more secure than Muslim havens like Pakistan. So many brilliant people from the community have worked their way up the ladder of success and become great scientists, judges and politicians. Sports and filmdom are full of Muslims who have succeeded. Her words are a shame to those in the community who have strived to make it big. Unlike other people in the majority community of Hindus, the Muslims of India have all the benefits and soaps needed for the community to wriggle out of its desert mentality.

Typical of the community they ask for secularism, equal rights, personal laws and when the majority lets its guard down for a moment they unleash terror. For the places they are in majority there is no question of all this because wherever they are in majority..there just doesn’t exist any kind of minorities !! And where there are minorities, the peace loving Muslims see to it that the minority is erased permanently.

Shabana Azmi being a bold secular face of the human rights activists in India is somehow of the same typical biased gender like her comrades like Arundathi Roy ( with whom she acted as a lesbian partner !! the Muslim community of India had no problems with that as she was representing a Hindu woman ) and Medha Patkar. These people choose their issues with care and come out with huge andolans and slogans only when the issue come to selective communities like the Muslims. They were totally missing when the Amaranath issue came to focus or when the Hindu rights where questioned at the Ram Sethu issue.

It’s time for the Muslim community to do a self study and see for themselves the benefits of leaving in harmony with the Hindu and sharing the Bharateeyan culture.

On Sunday, Azmi had said that the Indian polity had made nly “token gestures” rather than address real issues. She also claimed it had proved impossible for her to buy a home in Mumbai due to discrimination. “I wanted to buy a flat in Bombay and it wasn’t given to me because I was a Muslim. I read the same about Saif (Ali Khan),” Azmi said. “She has umpteen... houses so I don’t know how she can say this. If she hasn’t got a flat, then where does she stay?” Pandit said. “If it were true, then most Muslims would be living on the streets, which is not the case.” They added Azmi had been foolish to make the statement at a time of high tension in Jammu and Kashmir and that she had spoken to further her own political agenda. Azmi has previously served as a Rajya Sabha MP. “There is no problem for Muslims renting or buying houses here, whether they are film stars or working class,” Pandit said. “It is the case that in certain communities you have to respect the culture. Such as Jains, who would not allow a non-vegetarian to stay in the association, and one has to respect that. However, giving it a communal colour is what we object to.” “She is an opinion-maker and for her to make such statements is dangerous. It could lead to communal disharmony...,” Pandit said.
Vijayalakshmi 20/08/2008 09:19:56	Shabana Azmi's hypocrisy If Kashmiri Muslims had so much of fellow feeling for their Kashmiri Hindu brothers and sisters (as Shabana says),how come such large-scale genocide was perpetrated on them, and so many hindus had to flee for their lives and live for so many years as refugees in their own country?Will Shabana answer this question?Also, her double standards are exposed when she says that there is nothing wrong in Congress pandering to muslim demands and pampering them for their votes. By the same standards,BJP also should be justified in supporting Hindus,who see the BJP as a champion of their Cause.The Hindus are treated as second class citizens in India.They have no freedom to manage their own temples.The Govt diverts their temple offerings to muslims and christians,and over-taxes the Hindu pilgrims, but subsidizes the muslim pilgrim to the tune of several crores of the Indian tax-payers' money, when this money can be better spent in providing basic rural infrastructure.Why should there be pampering of the muslims and christians and sidelining and demonization of the Hindus in a 'secular' country?Let Shabana Azmi answer this question also honestly.

Whichever non-muslim society one observes, muslims always want and want, and take and take, but never give. In any non-muslim society, the muslim community has a list of demands, which they vehemently fight for (with whatever it takes, even if it means killing innocent people and engaging in mindless terrorism), and once these demands are met, they place another list of demands. Once that too is met, out comes another list, and this goes on. I guess their ultimate aim is to turn every society fully into an islamic one. India and Hindus have given so much for the muslims, and yet, this woman emphatically shouts "THAT'S NOT ENOUGH! MORE..WE WANT MORE!"

Reasoning is impossible! 2)In our current society, one person is facing a major headache selling his apartment due to a vicious muslim neighbour; no prospective buyer wants to deal with this muslim neighbour due to his antisocial credentials. 3)All my childhood muslim friends, all boys, were dirty, uncouth,never had a bath, had unsavoury personal habits etc. Most muslim youths are lawless by nature due to a common contempt in their community for correctness and uprightness. 4)The ubiquitous burqa is a major eyesore and a constant reminder of idiotic ideas masquerading as piety. 5)The only person to call a spade a spade was Aurobindo Ghosh. 6)No country wants anything to do with this community.Please read Anwar Sheikh's books in this regard. 7)In some TV program 6 months ago, a contestant was given 1 out of 10 by Akhtar because he praised Gujarat's development without talking about Godhra! 8)Akhtar and Azmi should try living in an Islamic country: that should be some experience! 9)One of the biggest lies is the talk of unity: there never was or will be one!

After all all our gods had weapons with them to eliminate demons or evil characters. How she can say that Muslims have not got or not getting their due just because she is not able to get an apartment at a place of her choice as alleged by her. Of late she is shedding her secular mask and showing her true colour. She has not said a single word against the Kashmiri separatists for their stiff opposition to allow an inch of land to the Amarnath Shrine Board on the flimsy ground of demographic change in Kashmir. Is she not aware that in the rest of India the percentage of muslims are on the increase in every state ? Is it not a change in demography against hindus ? Has any hindu objected ? Is this itself is not a fact for the support and help received by Muslims in a secular India. Otherwise how the propulation of Muslims can increase if they are not getting their due. Then what is actually their due ? Is it the continuation of the rule of the 1300 years over the hindus she intends ? Is it not a fact that her community got the cake (Pakistan) at the time of partition and eat it too (as citizens in a secular country with equal or more rights say minority rights). But what happened to the hindus in Pakistan and Bangladeh. Is it not a fact that they got decimated from about 24% to about 1.5% in Pakistan and from 30% to less than 9.5% in Bangladesh. Still she complains that Muslims have not got their due. Actually the hindus who have not got their due and still not getting their due. I had great respect for her. But with this statement she has degraded herself to the level of ordinary muslim fundamentalist. Let us strive for equality, equal opportunity and true secularism where there is no space for any particular religion whether minority or majority. Appeasement of a particular community to the detriment of others will have a natural repercussion, for we too want survive here. We do not want to become dhimmis in an islamic dispensation.

Of course she has studied and apparently admires the Hindu women. The manner in which she interacts with her Hindu colleagues does not belie acceptance of her Hindu roots. Her husband, Javed, has also learned the Hindu mind and the Hindu way of life. I regard both of them as good people. However, one should not disregard the fact that they are Muslims. They have to live in the Muslim society and interact with them. Despite the fact most of them are aware of the value systems contained in Hindu tenets, that society cannot tolerate acceptance of Hindu value systems and Hindu way of life. If it does, it would be a betrayal of the teachings of their religion, which binds its adherents firmly to its rules. Bedsides, if they did, it would indicate their acceptance of the impracticability and hollowness of what they learned in Arabic.

Muslims find it difficult to find residential accommodation among Hindus. There are numerous reasons for that. Hindus are aware of the spread of Islam through invasion over the centuries, the massacre of Hindu males, the ravaging of Hindu females and the enslavement of Hindu children. Hindus are aware of various sections of the Shari at and the difference between the Hindu and Muslim laws. The Hindus believe and practice “Eka Patni Vratham,” whereas such practices are abhorred by Muslims. We hear numerous instances of love trapping young Hindu female. Most inter religious marriage had ended in divorce and the women lived a neglected life. In many instances, I have heard women being subjected to extreme humiliation. Women who suffered such nightmares were too afraid to return to their loving parents who rarely welcome them. Having interacted with people of various geographical, ethnic and religious backgrounds, I have heard many instances of divorce without compensation, honor killing and children growing up in poverty etc. If one has a practice of reading, one could come across some violent aspect of this society. Besides, they don’t even seem to make an effort to integrate with the society in which they live in. This is especially the case in respect of the Muslims from the Indian subcontinent. Unfortunately, I have come to a conclusion, that having a Muslim neighbor is not the same as having a Hindu or even a Christian neighbor even in the western societies. Such attitudes are not uncommon among American, Australian, European and Latin American people of various religious backgrounds. In countries like China and Japan also people have the same attitude.

Bangladesh, which is contemptuous of Hindu India as a pushover denies the very notion of infiltration because its Muslims never accepted the legitimacy of the partition settlement. They believe that the Assam, West Bengal that Jinnah originally demanded, should and will belong to the Islamic Republic of Bangladesh. On this India’s communists apparently concur with them! And if Bangladesh is able to frighten Hindu India there is little hope for it in the face of enhanced joint Saudi-Pak subversion that evidence of each Indian retreat is already encouraging. Each terrorist bombing illustrates the helplessness of India and the ease with which Hindus can be overawed by a handful of determined mass murderers.
