Case Filed Against Blasphemous Facebook Report on Parvathi Devi’s 'Thripoothaaraattu'

The Police Department of Chengannur has registered a case against a certain Shiva Prasad of Kodungallur, who maintains a blasphemous Facebook page. The page contains narrations that extremely disturbing for devotees, hurting all religious and devotional sentiments. Shiva Prasad has ridiculed and castigated the ritual of Parvathi Devi’s ‘Thripoothaaraattu’ observed in the Mahadeva Temple, Chengannur.

The petition has been filed against Shiva Prasad by secretary of temple advisory committee Raghu Mithula, Advocates R Unnikrishnan and Sreejith Somashekharan. Following the petition filed, Facebook authorities have brought the page under restriction. The case has now been handed over to the cyber cell, which is conducting an indepth probe into the matter.

I wouldn't be surprised if this is like those cryptochristian pretend-"atheists" and "communists"--headed by the [christian] DANIEL Selvaraj who hides behind a communist label--who were caught authoring typically christian fictions to attack Andal and other Alwars recently (reported at haindavakeralam.com/HKPage.aspx?PageID=16129). The vile christian inventions in Daniel's novel about the Alwars sounds quite like this guy's facebook page describe as containing "extremely disturbing narrations [to Hindu devotees]". 2. I don't think it should be fought on "blasphemy" grounds either. Hindus should fight this on the grounds that it is hatespeech: Any statements not supported by irrefutable facts are opinions. And any opinion that's masqueraded as fact is untruth (i.e. a lie). When untruths moreover make imputations, it is libel--and should therefore be actionable for truly being hatespeech. And any slander/libel directed at an audience to convince or attack them is Propaganda (propaganda is usually the very purpose of lying to an audience). Note the contrast between slander/libel/propaganda on one hand (which is what christianism=islam has used since the Roman era to attack others), and, on the other hand, verifiable facts exposing christianism=islam (which truths christians and muslims find uncomfortable and so always protest only because they don't want it revealed to the masses).

Guru 24/07/2012 21:14:47	Blasphemy ? It is very strange that the word "Blasphemy" is included in the IT Act and it is finding its way into FIR's and complaints. This is a dangerous trend. A complaint based on "attempt to disturb communal harmony" would "incite communal violence" would have sufficed. Blasphemy is an old Christian concept which has gone out of vogue even in the West. Islam clings on to Blasphemy laws, with even death penalty. Do we need Blasphemy laws in India ? Protest these provisions in the IT Act which is designed to restrict online freedom of speech. There are enough laws to deal with these kinds of problems, and Hinduism itself tolerates those who oppose certain practises. If they incite violence or cause disaffection between communities, they can be booked under existing laws. So why resort to Blasphemy provisions ? I think the approach is wrong.

Unless India stands up to the world, no one will respect us. In this world, fear has no place. Only strength respects strength.
