Beware of Pravasi Votes
30/07/2010 04:14:15  By Synonymous

Conditions are getting very favourable for the introduction of Pravasi Voting Rights (PVR) in the very near future. UPA is exploring all options to wreck Indian democracy in all respects and with the appointment of a new Chief Election Commissioner, PVR looks a certainty in the very near future. As most Pravasis are from Kerala, it will be the state most affected by the introduction of such an unwise move without much debate and deliberation. Political correctness is preventing any of the major political parties from speaking the truth and a weak .BJP in Kerala is also keeping quiet. Everyone is interested in Pravasi money and a majority of Kerala politicians have some business connection in the Gulf.  IUML/NDF/PDP/JIH combine with their vast number of sister organizations in the Gulf have been cleverly manipulating the political atmosphere for this purpose for a long time now. Syrian/Knanaya/Orthodox Christian outfits in the West are also doing their best.

As of now almost everything in Kerala is dictated by the influence of Gulf money and Rubber money. With the introduction of PVR, the situation can turn completely out of control. Anyone can underestimate the clout of foreign money only at their own peril. Malabar will definitely turn into a backyard for the Gulfians (which will also include Arabs) and Central Travancore will be at the mercy of Western influence. The most affected will be the local bodies like Panchayats and Municipalities. Ward members in Kinaloor, Ponnani, Thalankara etc., will be decided on the basis of Pravasi votes from GCC countries. And those in Thiruvalla, Ranni, Konni, Idukki etc., will be decided in Italy and Germany . A major part of God’s Own Country will become the holiday home or ranches of the wealthy Pravasi crowd, who have no permanent interests.

After the passing of the Panchayati Raj act, the local bodies are highly empowered and they can give approval for activities and projects, all in a legitimate manner in their own discretion, that were unimaginable earlier. Now we can easily estimate the extent of damage such approvals can bring about in our society. All educational institutions and healthcare facilities in villages and towns, including recruitment and control of staff, are now being entrusted with the local panchayats and municipalities. The situation of external influence in places where the Pravasi and Pravasi related population is significant can become pathetic. Just as an example, the issues in Palestine , Iraq and Kashmir will dominate the panchayat elections in Malappuram district more than their real legitimate requirements of drinking water or electricity or tarred roads. The rest can be imagined.

chief election commissioner
watch the trick when the news paper and TV reports the name of the new chief election commissioner. Only his initials and surname!! why these hypocratic biased medias are not publishing his full name. Khureshi sounds like a hindu name, but when you expand the initials you see he is a deseartian.

foreign votes
In some countries, people vote at the embassies (in the foreign countries) and the ballot-papers are sent to the Election Commission in the country of origin.

A very serious and timely issue !

The problem of demographics is also there.

Finally phoren!
Synonymous has raised a very pertinent issue.

At least Hindus ought to discuss this because they would be the ones suffering most from the new scenario.

Interesting scenario...
The scenario is interesting, but I feel it would take time for this to materialise. Lots of logistical nightmares. First thing, how do these people do the vote? (On-line??). If it is EVM or paper ballot people will have to come down to the polling booth to vote. Fat chance that every expatriate will pay airfares and land up to vote. If that was the case, they would be doing it even now. Now if on-line voting is enabled how do we gurantee that it is not misused? This is when there are doubts if EVMs itself are tampered with.
