Mass marriage organised by Maha Ganapathy Charitable Trust

Kalpetta: Dewasom Minister Kadnnappally Ramachandran has said that the endeavor of the charitable trusts to conduct the commendable social service such as ‘Sumangaleeyam’ is highly commendable and it is an eye-opener for the society.

Inaugurating the‘Sumangaleeyam-4,’ fourth mass marriage function organised by the Maha Ganapathy Charitable Trust, on the premises of the Sree Mariyamman temple, Sulthan Bathery in Wayanad district on Sunday, Dewasom Minister said that many of the brides belonged to economically backward families were blessed to enter into the married life through the mass marriage and the social services of the trust had set a model for the charitable organisations in Kerala.

Kadnnappally Ramachandran praised the bride grooms for their courage to give a life to the girls belonged to economically backward families. As many as 72 prospective Hindu couples from Wayanad in the State and Nilgiri district in Tamil Nadu entered the wedlock and a financial assistance provided to four Christian and Muslim couples at the mass marriage function.

Four sovereigns of gold ornaments, dresses for the couples, and feast for 100 invitees of each couple were provided by the trust.


Sasi Kumar Panoth 08/02/2010 12:08:48	Social Marriage Forums Nowadays Islamistsand christians organising social marriage functions. It is a good idea for hindus to conduct Mass Marriage functions. The expense should be from Devaswam Board. All we know that Our money from the temple is used by various governments for their own purpose. It shouldnt be allowed. Temple money should used for poor hindu girls marriage.

It should be a gathering to witness a divine occasion in the precincts of a temple or a consecrated place, ending with the partaking of temple prasadam or the fellowship of a simple meal.

It is we who have to act according to God will to make "Loka Samastha Sukhino Bhavanthu", as Bhagwan Krishna shown the ways for Arjuna. I only hope if every temple in the country could act this way, Hindu's can march a long long way..Britishers could recognize the power of Temple, that is why they made an ordinance for government attaching of Temple properties and looting the temples by government. Let us liberate our temples from Government and do Samaja Seva through temples.
Vijaya 07/02/2010 17:14:44	This is the right way to go ! Hindu dharma must be a practical thing. And this organisation has set a fine example. I am curious as to whether they were also intercaste marriages.
